Dr. Henry Morgentaler, who single-handedly brought abortion rights to the national agenda when he opened an illegal abortion clinic in Montreal in 1969, was named a member of the Order of Canada yesterday.
The appointment has reignited the abortion debate that raged across the country in the 1970s and 1980s. While pro-choice groups are hailing the appointment as well-deserved and long-overdue, it has stirred outrage among anti-abortion activists.

It has come to my attention that Henry Morgentaler is about to receive the Order of Canada in spite of thousands of Canadians having already protested against this action by the Governor General of Canada.
I ask you to recall the decision due to the fact it was not unanimous for Morgentaler to receive such an honour in Canada! And that it is definitely not the wish of the majority of Canadians.
